Sketch Challenge with Purple Onion Designs (guest post)

Hello!

Today I am excited to be a guest designer for Woodcraft Store – a lovely Russian store for scrapbooking and cardmaking!

They host a monthly CAS challenge on their blog and asked me if I wanted make a card following their sketch for April. Of course I said yes! πŸ™‚

THIS IS THE CHALLENGE SKETCH:

April sketch

It’s a great sketch, isn’t it? I was looking through my stash for either a dotted stencil, cover-up die or patterned paper with dots and came across a panel of white cardstock embossed with a We R Memory Keepers Next Level embossing folder. Perfect! πŸ™‚ I was in the mood for a colorful card so I did some inkblending with Distress Oxide Inks on top. And then I couldn’t resist but add a cute critter to my design … Using my super adorable stamps from Purple Onion Designs was way overdue anyways!

SO HERE’S MY FINISHED CRITTER CARD:

After watercoloring Puddles (the dog!) with Winsor & Newton Water Colour Markersβ„’ I also added some finishing details with gray colored pencils to the nooks and crannies, as Kathy Racoosin would say. πŸ˜€

I hope you will hop over to the challenge post and see what the DT has created and also join the challenge with your own take on the sketch!

Have an amazing day! β™₯

“Beam Up Some Fun” Galaxy with Lawn Fawn (guest post)

Hey, everyone!

Like many other crafters I really adore galaxy cards, they are so fun to make and all the astronaut, alien, space ship stamps out there are so super cute … Love them!

Lawn Fawn recently added a new stamp set to this list and it’s called “Beam Me Up”. I have already seen a lot of amazing cards with it and the more I saw the more I wanted those stamps lol! I am sure you all know the feeling! πŸ˜€ Lucky me, I got to use the set for a new guest post for The Foiled Fox and made a fun birthday card with it.

HERE’S A LOOK AT MY FINISHED GALAXY CARD:

Lawn Fawn Beam Me Up Galaxy Card

The galaxy background I created is super simple! Only three Distress Oxide Inks are needed and I really want to encourage everyone that still hesitates to try out creating a galaxy themselves. πŸ™‚ You’ll find a step by step tutorial as well as all Copic markers that I have used for coloring on The Foiled Fox’s blog!

Have an amazing day! β™₯

Watercolor Card for PinSights Challenge

Hello!

How are you today?

We had nothing but rain and clouds during the weekend here in Northern Germany but the weather is slowly getting better and despite the rain we’ve been having it’s clearly spring now! Birds are chirping and flowers & trees are starting to bloom everywhere, it’s lovely. πŸ™‚

Since winter has been soo long I am really in the mood for some fresh & bright colors when it comes to cardmaking. And when I saw the latest PinSights Challenge by Ellen Hutson I knew I had to join in again. This is the inspiration board:

EllenHutsonPinsightsChallenge

I kept looking at the rainbow orange! Or is it a grapefruit? One way or the other, it’s such an eyecatcher! πŸ˜€ I took a leap and decided to do some freehand watercoloring … – I haven’t tried it for at least a year since it’s sooo out of my comfort zone!! I mean, what made me fall in love with stamping in the first place was that I have no talent for drawing myself and stamps create perfect images for you. But with the help of a circle die, a pencil, some of my watercolors and the above picture as a reference I was actually able to paint a rainbow orange. Yay! πŸ˜‰

  • Hint: If you ever use pencil drawings as a guide for watercoloring make sure to use it VERY lightly or watercolor besides the line … once you watercolor over it the pigment will be trapped and you can’t erase the pencil lines anymore.

HERE’S MY WATERCOLOR THANK YOU CARD:

For the area around the orange I quickly created a circle mask and ink blended around it. Then I also added some splatters with those same colors of Distress Inks that I used for ink blending.

Do you like to use color challenges or photo inspiration for your papercrafting? I created a Pinterest BoardΒ with my favorite PinSights Challenge pictures from Ellen Hutson – in case you want to look at it or follow!

Have an amazing day! β™₯
