Floral Fantasy Card for Bastel-Traum’s Challenge

Hi guys!

Today I am excited to be a Guest Designer for Bastel-Traum’s Challenge! They have a monthly card challenge that I have participated in several times. Then I was the lucky “Gold Award” winner of their November 2018 Challenge entering this Christmas card. Yay!! So here I am guesting for their new challenge – which is a color challenge.

My card features Altenew’s “Floral Fantasy” stamp set, an Altenew label sentiment saying “Let’s celebrate you” in German and one of their beautiful stencils with geometric shapes. I did layered stamping with different inks and some heat embossing for my top layer. I used a mask to place one flower behind the other and for the stenciling that I did afterwards. Scroll down to the supply list if you’re interested to know what products and ink colors I have used!

COLOR INSPIRATION FROM BASTEL-TRAUM:

Isn’t this gorgeous?!! Although there are flowers in the inspiration picture, I also thought about making a wintery critter card … but ultimately I ended up wanting to use the Altenew flowers again. Maybe I will still make a critter card with those yummy colors!

I can’t wait to see what you will come up with for Bastel-Traum’s challenge. 🙂 If you like card challenges as much as I do you might also want to take a look at my challenge page (consider yourself warned that it is long list! :D).

Thank you for stopping by today! ♥

Orange, Red and Teal Cards with Altenew

Hello!

I made a few cards following the current color scheme from Altenew’s Inspiration Challenge and finally get around posting them here. I have been pretty busy prepping a couple of exciting blog post for February … I get to share the first ones on Saturday and hope you will like them! 🙂

But back to today’s cards! I have to admit, orange is not my friend lol. I don’t really like the color … When crafting I only use it in a very muted shade, on Halloween cards, or in combination with pink on flowers. I actually love when orange and pink watercolors are mixing! Nonetheless, this color combo was a challenge for me – but I like trying out new things and pushing my creative boundries.

For my first card, I was still a little hesitant to use orange and red … So I used Wild Honey Oxide Ink (which is a more yellow orange), Abandonded Coral Oxide Ink for splatters (which has a pink tint) and Picked Raspberry Oxide Ink as my third background color. For my technique, I went with:

LAYERING A SINGLE STENCIL

I used Altenew’s Layered Kaleidoscope Stencil B which is actually part of a layered stencil set – but I used just the single stencil and rotated it in between ink blending with my orange and pink ink. I also used the stencil to add pattern to my die cut “U”.

HERE’S MY FINISHED ORANGE, PINKY RED AND TEAL STENCILED CARD:

After that, I made two more cards. This time I chose a completely different technique:

WATERCOLOR STAMPING WITH MARKERS

I used the solid flower stamps from Altenew’s “Floral Fantasy” set, placed them in my MISTI stamping tool, scribbled on ink from watercolor markers and sprayed a bit of water onto the stamps. Then I stamped onto watercolor cardstock and let the stamps sit on the cardstock for a minute allowing the ink to soak into the paper. I had so much ink left on my flowers that I stamped the remaining ink onto a second cardstock panel. I repeated the process adding more color to certain areas. After everthing was dry I added clear Wink Of Stella over the flowers and some ink splatters for texture.

For one card, I used a Kraft cardbase and a German label sentiment (saying “Let’s celebrate you”) as well as clear droplets to complete my card design:

For the other card, I used a red cardbase and the “Hugs” word die from the Script Words die set for my sentiment. I die cut it two times, one from red cardstock and one from white glitter cardstock and layered them on top of each other. Sparkling clear sequins finished off this design:

I hope you like today’s cards! Thank you for stopping by! ♥

Blue Lotus Card with Altenew

Hi friends!

Happy New Year’s Eve! How are you all doing today?

It’s been a few weeks since I blogged the last time … December is always so busy with all the preparations going on, meeting friends and sending out Christmas cards, too! I am sure a lot of you can relate. 😀 Now that Christmas is over I am back with a non-holiday card! I mostly send out birthday cards so I “shopped my stash” and made my first card using the beautiful Lotus stamps set from Altenew.

TAKE A LOOK AT MY BLUE LOTUS BLOSSOMS:

Altenew Lotus Card August Challenge

I used masking paper to stamp my three Lotus blossoms and also to protect them when inkblending over the bottom of my card front with yellow and green-ish traditional Distress Inks. For coloring I used Sapphire blue liquid watercolor. It gives such a great intense blue!

COLORING CLOSE-UP:

Altenew Lotus Card 2

The colors of this card where inspired by one of my favorite cardmakers when it comes to floral cards: Erum from Vibgyor Krafts. She picked one of her amazing blue flower cards for the Altenew August Inspiration Challenge which I took inspiration from.

To finish my card I splattered gold, black and white watercolors over the Lotus blossoms and added a small birthday sentiment from Altenew’s Sketchy Cities Abroad stamp set embossed in Rich Gold embossing powder on black cardstock.

Thank you for stopping by today! I am wishing you all an amazing & healthy New Year with lots of time for papercrafting or whatever it is that makes your heart happy. ♥
