“Kreativsüchtig” Craft Magazine … Happy News!

You guys, exciting news!! I am freakin’ happy to have two cards published in a craft magazine!! It’s German and it’s called “Kreativsüchtig Magazin” (‘addicted to creativity’ magazine) and that is one of my cards at the bottom of the cover!! 😍💥 I used Lawn Fawn stamps and dies for the galaxy shaker card and Winnie & Walter stamps for the Christmas card. I suggest you go and pre-order your copy now! 😉🤗 Once they are gone, they’re gone. There is a list of places to order over here on Kreativsüchtig Magazin’s FB page.

The Stamps Of Life: Monster Cards – 2 Ways

Hello!

I don’t know about you but I love monster stamps – the cute kind, not the ugly ones! 😉 It’s already been a while since I last made a card with monster stamps so I was very excited to use the “Monsters4celebrations” stamp set and coordinating “Monsters2celebrate” die set that The Stamps Of Life by Stephanie Bernard kindly send me to guest design with! 🙂 I made TWO fun cards – one using just the die set and another one using the stamp set and Copic coloring.

MONSTER CARD NO. 1

What I found really unique about the Monsters2celebrate die set when I first saw it is that it comes with two different kinds of dies: First, it has the coordinating dies for the stamp images from Monsters4celebrations. But secondly, it has stand-alone dies that cut and emboss mosters! So if you don’t feel like stamping and coloring you can use just those dies! And that’s what I did for my first card. Here is a picture of it where you can also see two matching dies in the bottom left corner:

Stamps Of Life Monster Card 1

For the background of my standard A2 sized card I used a pretty rainbow-colored patterned paper from The Stamps Of Life’s “Thank You” paper pad. I foam mounted a second, white rectangle onto that to which I added a bit of ink blending and splattering with Squeezed Lemonade and Wild Honey Distress Oxide Inks. I die cut one of the monsters from the die set from Ocean Cardstock and the eyes from Powdered sugar cardstock. To give my die cut monster some more details I colored the mouth with Copics, a black fine liner pen and a white gel pen for the teeth. I also glued a piece of black cardstock onto the mouth’s opening from the backside. For some texture I added Peacock Feathers Distress Ink to the edges of the monster and splattered a bit of water over it. I mounted the monster onto my card using an Action Wobble spring – they are just so fun and addictive! 😀

STEP-UP – MONSTER CARD NO. 2

For my second card I pulled out one of my oldest die sets: The Balloons Step-Ups Card Die Set by Stephanie Bernard. I die-cut the step-up card base and the stamped monster from Powdered Sugar Cardstock and the balloons from Ocean Cardstock. The dotted patterned paper is from the “Thank You” paper pad again. I added some dimension and extra color to the balloons with Mermaid Lagoon and Blueprint Sketch Distress Oxide Inks. For my cute monster I chose Copic Markers as my coloring medium. The label sentiment is also from the “Monsters4celebrations” stamp set by The Stamps Of Life.

MY CARDS WITH THE NEW RELEASE

I have two cards for you that I made with new stamp sets from Studio Katia! Both of them feature pencil coloring details on top of a base layer that is colored with a different medium. I really like this method of coloring (I like to call it “two step coloring”) because doing my base layer with Copics or watercolors is a lot faster than starting with colored pencils from the beginning (that’s always a plus when you’re impatient like me or short on crafty time! 😉 ). But by adding details with colored pencils on top I still get the the kind of shading that I am looking for! This is my first card:

“LOVELY BLOOMS” CARD

Studio Katia Pencil Coloring Card Lovely Blooms

I picked the wonderful big flower image from Studio Katia’s “Lovely Blooms” for this card and stamped it twice onto my panel. I used a similar color scheme as on this flower card but I mixed the look up by not caring too much about realistic coloring and choosing blue-greens for the big blossom and light blue for some of the leaves. My base layer with Copic markers did not give me great shading so I added a lot of detail with colored pencils. To get the depth I wanted I used really dark tones in the tiny nooks and crannies of the image, like a very dark green pencil for the big flower and even black for the light blue leaves.

(I use a mixture of Caran d’Ache – Luminance Pencils and Chameleon – Color Tones Pencils by the way. I also have a few Faber Castell Pencils in my collection. All these brands are slightly different to work with but you can get great results with each of them, I believe.)

After coloring the flowers I masked them using masking paper and ink blended over them with Squeezed Lemonade Distress Ink. I added splatters with clear water and also with black watercolor paint. I stamped the “crafty friend” birthday sentiment from the new Birthday Greetings Stamp Set with Versafine Onyx Black ink and heat embossed it with clear embossing powder. Some sequins from Studio Katia’s Sparkling Sea Confetti Mix and Nuvo Drops for the center of the big flowers finished my design off!

I also added a bit of stamping to the inside of my card – just because I really liked those Birthday Greetings:

“KOBI BEARING GIFTS” CARD

Now onto my second card – this is a cute one! That Kobi Bearing Gifts is really an adorable image, love his tummy and paws! 😀

This time I used watercolor markers for my base layer. Once it was completely dry, I added my second layer with colored pencils. I kept the balloons pretty light all in all because I wanted the main focus to be on Kobi the bear and his pile of gifts! I brought in some red and violet shades to the presents for some contrast and added a little sparkle to them with Studio Katia’s white April Crystals. To color Kobi’s fur I made sure to sharpen my colored pencils really well and then added lots of tiny flicks – darker towards the outside lines and brighter in the middle of his tummy and where the light would be.

For the sentiment I stamped “Happy Birthday” and Hooray” from Kobi Bearing Gifts onto some of the balloons (they fit perfectly 🙂 ) and “Wishing You A Year Of Joy & Friendship” from the Birthday Greetings Stamp Set across the bottom of my card. Hope you like the finished card design!
