Fly with Me Card for Challenge Up Your Life

Hello and happy weekend, everyone!

I am excited to be a Guest Designer for Challenge Up Your Life (CUYL) today with a “Fly with me” card featuring Mama Elephant stamps! 🙂

Challenge Up Your Life is a great bi-weekly papercrafting challenge blog that is run by a couple of German-speaking crafters (but no worries, they always translate their theme and rules into English). They always have beautiful projects for you to get inspired by!

Theme #105 is:

“Love Is In The Air” / “Liebe liegt in der Luft”

At this time of year with Valentine’s Day coming up very soon I initially thought of a cute, maybe pink card design. BUT … I really was in the mood for some turquoise, which is my favorite color. And I also like more unconventional love-themed cards. So I ended up focusing on the “In the air” part of the theme by choosing the adorable elephant (and birdie) image from Mama Elephant’s “Fly With Me” stamp set and went with a “Lots of Love” sentiment. For the colors, I chose turquoise, yellow – and grey for the elephant.

TAKE A LOOK:

With the photo editing some of the pencil coloring on the elephant got lost, so I took another photo of that where the depth is a little more visible.

I hope you like my card! And that you will hop over to Challenge Up Your Life to see what the Design Team girls came up with.

I am gonna be back later today with another exciting post, so stay tuned. Hugs!

Floral Card with WOW Clear Embossing and Studio Katia (Blog Hop & Giveaway)

Hi there! How are you doing today?

Just in case you need some craft inspiration to take your mind off the fact that it’s Monday … 😉 I have a lovely floral card to show you! And it’s part of a collaboration blog hop between WOW Embossing and Studio Katia so there is plenty of wonderful cards along the hop as well as some prizes to win! Isn’t that a great start to this week!

Studio Katia Wow Embossing Blog Hop

If you are already hopping along, you should have arrived from Kristina Pokazanieva and Olga Lukaseviciene is your next stop!

MY FLORAL CARD WITH NO LINE COLORING

I have a floral card for you that I made with one of the beauuutiful flower images from Studio Katia’s “You’re So Sweet” stamp set. They seemed perfect for coloring with colored pencils and that is what I did – using a no line coloring method. I stamped the image with a very light dye ink that isn’t visible anymore now that I added my coloring.

Studio Katia You're So Sweet Floral Card 1

I used a mixture of Caran d’Ache – Luminance Pencils and Chameleon – Color Tones Pencils. The brands are a bit different to work with and also when it comes to their prize point but I honestly like them both! You can get great results with both kind of pencils, I think!

For my background I stamped the Studio Katia “Mandala Flower” in a light mint ink and used the same ink for ink blending from the bottom of my panel. I added splatters with green ink to match the leaves from my flower image. A few of the gorgeous blue crystal embellishments picked up the color of my blossom coloring.

HEAT EMBOSSING IN CLEAR

While I chose a simple black color for my sentiment (to add a bit of contrast to the background) I heat embossed it with WOW clear embossing powder. I really find that using that glossy embossing powder on a sentiment adds just that bit of extra to a card design! Black embossing powder can get a bit messy but by choosing a black pigment ink like Versafine and WOW’s “Clear Gloss Super Fine” embossing powder I got a perfectly embossed sentiment. Here’s a close-up look of the card:

Honey Bee Zen Bouquet with WOW Embossing Rose Glintz (Blog Hop & Giveaway)

Hello and welcome to my blog!!

As some of you might already know, I am guest designer for WOW Embossing this month and today I am joining the WOW Design Team for a collaboration blog hop with Honey Bee Stamps! Yay! As I am also a DT Alumni of Honey Bee Stamps I am especially happy to be part of the blog hop with them today. 🙂

If you are hopping along, you should have come from Riikka Kovasin. Your next stop is gonna be Vera Yates. We all hope this collaboration inspires you all!

SIMPLE CARDS WITH HEAT EMBOSSING

Ever since I got the Rose Glintz Embossing Powder from WOW and made a swatch with it I couldn’t wait to use it on a card. It has such a wonderful rose gold color and beautiful shine when the light catches it! And I already had the perfect image in mind to use with it – HoneyBee Stamps’ Zen Bouquet! I have seen photos of it being used on cards with just stamping (no coloring) and it looked gorgeous! So I thought heat embossing without coloring would definetely work as well and I have to say, I really like how it came out! In fact, I liked it so much that I couldn’t stop experimenting and creating and ended up making a whole bunch of cards! Take a look yourself:

I started with heat embossing the Zen Bouquet in Rose Glintz on colored cardstock and had a specific look in mind – but I had forgotten that this embossing powder is not entirely opaque. WOW has a line of opaque powders as well, but this is not one of them – my bad. 😉 So, for example on the teal cardstock the Rose Glintz ended up looking a bit darker and less rose than I thought. I still liked the look and beautiful metallic shine of the powder on the colored cardstocks but nonetheless I went ahead and embossed the Zen Bouquet again on Neenah solar white cardstock for that rose gold tone. Since the bouquet is a reeeally big image I could get two card panels out of one round of stamping & heat embossing and ended up with a couple of background pieces for cards after all!

To put my cards together I used several different Honey Bee Stamps sentiment dies (you’ll find a full list of supplies down below). For the kindness-themed cards I heat embossed the kind / kindness die cuts with WOW Metalline Greengage (soft green) and Metalline Himalayan Musk (dark violet) embossing powders. I pressed the Embossing Ink Pad directly onto the die cut pieces and picked them up with my tweezers to then heat emboss them.

The only card where I felt like it needed some coloring was the lilac one. I wanted to tie in the white from the cardbase so that the heat embossed image wouldn’t get lost. Therefore I took my white Luminance Colored Pencil and added a few highlights to the flower bouquet.
