Floral Fantasy Card for Bastel-Traum’s Challenge

Hi guys!

Today I am excited to be a Guest Designer for Bastel-Traum’s Challenge! They have a monthly card challenge that I have participated in several times. Then I was the lucky “Gold Award” winner of their November 2018 Challenge entering this Christmas card. Yay!! So here I am guesting for their new challenge – which is a color challenge.

My card features Altenew’s “Floral Fantasy” stamp set, an Altenew label sentiment saying “Let’s celebrate you” in German and one of their beautiful stencils with geometric shapes. I did layered stamping with different inks and some heat embossing for my top layer. I used a mask to place one flower behind the other and for the stenciling that I did afterwards. Scroll down to the supply list if you’re interested to know what products and ink colors I have used!

Isn’t this gorgeous?!! Although there are flowers in the inspiration picture, I also thought about making a wintery critter card … but ultimately I ended up wanting to use the Altenew flowers again. Maybe I will still make a critter card with those yummy colors!

I can’t wait to see what you will come up with for Bastel-Traum’s challenge. 🙂 If you like card challenges as much as I do you might also want to take a look at my challenge page (consider yourself warned that it is long list! :D).

Thank you for stopping by today! ♥

Blue Lotus Card with Altenew

Hi friends!

Happy New Year’s Eve! How are you all doing today?

It’s been a few weeks since I blogged the last time … December is always so busy with all the preparations going on, meeting friends and sending out Christmas cards, too! I am sure a lot of you can relate. 😀 Now that Christmas is over I am back with a non-holiday card! I mostly send out birthday cards so I “shopped my stash” and made my first card using the beautiful Lotus stamps set from Altenew.

Altenew Lotus Card August Challenge

I used masking paper to stamp my three Lotus blossoms and also to protect them when inkblending over the bottom of my card front with yellow and green-ish traditional Distress Inks. For coloring I used Sapphire blue liquid watercolor. It gives such a great intense blue!

Altenew Lotus Card 2

The colors of this card where inspired by one of my favorite cardmakers when it comes to floral cards: Erum from Vibgyor Krafts. She picked one of her amazing blue flower cards for the Altenew August Inspiration Challenge which I took inspiration from.

To finish my card I splattered gold, black and white watercolors over the Lotus blossoms and added a small birthday sentiment from Altenew’s Sketchy Cities Abroad stamp set embossed in Rich Gold embossing powder on black cardstock.

Thank you for stopping by today! I am wishing you all an amazing & healthy New Year with lots of time for papercrafting or whatever it is that makes your heart happy. ♥

Floral Card with WOW Clear Embossing and Studio Katia (Blog Hop & Giveaway)

Hi there! How are you doing today?

Just in case you need some craft inspiration to take your mind off the fact that it’s Monday … 😉 I have a lovely floral card to show you! And it’s part of a collaboration blog hop between WOW Embossing and Studio Katia so there is plenty of wonderful cards along the hop as well as some prizes to win! Isn’t that a great start to this week!

Studio Katia Wow Embossing Blog Hop

If you are already hopping along, you should have arrived from Kristina Pokazanieva and Olga Lukaseviciene is your next stop!

I have a floral card for you that I made with one of the beauuutiful flower images from Studio Katia’s “You’re So Sweet” stamp set. They seemed perfect for coloring with colored pencils and that is what I did – using a no line coloring method. I stamped the image with a very light dye ink that isn’t visible anymore now that I added my coloring.

Studio Katia You're So Sweet Floral Card 1

I used a mixture of Caran d’Ache – Luminance Pencils and Chameleon – Color Tones Pencils. The brands are a bit different to work with and also when it comes to their prize point but I honestly like them both! You can get great results with both kind of pencils, I think!

For my background I stamped the Studio Katia “Mandala Flower” in a light mint ink and used the same ink for ink blending from the bottom of my panel. I added splatters with green ink to match the leaves from my flower image. A few of the gorgeous blue crystal embellishments picked up the color of my blossom coloring.

While I chose a simple black color for my sentiment (to add a bit of contrast to the background) I heat embossed it with WOW clear embossing powder. I really find that using that glossy embossing powder on a sentiment adds just that bit of extra to a card design! Black embossing powder can get a bit messy but by choosing a black pigment ink like Versafine and WOW’s “Clear Gloss Super Fine” embossing powder I got a perfectly embossed sentiment. Here’s a close-up look of the card:
