Honey Bee Zen Bouquet with WOW Embossing Rose Glintz (Blog Hop & Giveaway)

Hello and welcome to my blog!!

As some of you might already know, I am guest designer for WOW Embossing this month and today I am joining the WOW Design Team for a collaboration blog hop with Honey Bee Stamps! Yay! As I am also a DT Alumni of Honey Bee Stamps I am especially happy to be part of the blog hop with them today. 🙂

If you are hopping along, you should have come from Riikka Kovasin. Your next stop is gonna be Vera Yates. We all hope this collaboration inspires you all!

SIMPLE CARDS WITH HEAT EMBOSSING

Ever since I got the Rose Glintz Embossing Powder from WOW and made a swatch with it I couldn’t wait to use it on a card. It has such a wonderful rose gold color and beautiful shine when the light catches it! And I already had the perfect image in mind to use with it – HoneyBee Stamps’ Zen Bouquet! I have seen photos of it being used on cards with just stamping (no coloring) and it looked gorgeous! So I thought heat embossing without coloring would definetely work as well and I have to say, I really like how it came out! In fact, I liked it so much that I couldn’t stop experimenting and creating and ended up making a whole bunch of cards! Take a look yourself:

I started with heat embossing the Zen Bouquet in Rose Glintz on colored cardstock and had a specific look in mind – but I had forgotten that this embossing powder is not entirely opaque. WOW has a line of opaque powders as well, but this is not one of them – my bad. 😉 So, for example on the teal cardstock the Rose Glintz ended up looking a bit darker and less rose than I thought. I still liked the look and beautiful metallic shine of the powder on the colored cardstocks but nonetheless I went ahead and embossed the Zen Bouquet again on Neenah solar white cardstock for that rose gold tone. Since the bouquet is a reeeally big image I could get two card panels out of one round of stamping & heat embossing and ended up with a couple of background pieces for cards after all!

To put my cards together I used several different Honey Bee Stamps sentiment dies (you’ll find a full list of supplies down below). For the kindness-themed cards I heat embossed the kind / kindness die cuts with WOW Metalline Greengage (soft green) and Metalline Himalayan Musk (dark violet) embossing powders. I pressed the Embossing Ink Pad directly onto the die cut pieces and picked them up with my tweezers to then heat emboss them.

The only card where I felt like it needed some coloring was the lilac one. I wanted to tie in the white from the cardbase so that the heat embossed image wouldn’t get lost. Therefore I took my white Luminance Colored Pencil and added a few highlights to the flower bouquet.

  1. I love this idea of letting colorful embossing powder speak for itself and pairing it with a stamp like the Zen Bouquet set to make beautiful but simple thank you cards.
I seem to send a lot of thank you cards (maybe it’s a southern thing) or someone in my close family needs some to send out. Being able to make lovely cards quickly and in bulk is perfect.
I would love to see this technique in a white glitter embossing powder on black cardstock.

    • Oh my, you did have fun playing with this EP!!! I would too, its so pretty! I love all of your cards… I think I like the purple one the best because of the subtle white coloring, but they’re all great!
